Protein
You know you need enough protein to build muscle – and you have it needed for healthy hair, because hair consists mainly of proteins. However, the chances are you already tired of eating, if you try to maintain or build muscle – The ingestion of protein of poor quality can lead to weak, brittle hair or loss of color.

Good Sources: Chicken, turkey, beef, eggs, low-fat dairy products (cottage cheese, milk, yogurt)

Iron
A low-iron level can lead to baldness, according to scientific analysis. Researchers compared 11 studies with regard to the relationship between iron intake and hair loss, and concluded that the correction of iron deficiency can also promote hair growth.

Good sources: Lean red meat, turkey, egg yolks, dried beans, dried fruits, whole grain products.

Zinc
Suffer from increased hair loss? It may be that your zinc intake should increase. Research has shown that this mineral has an impact on the content of androgens. These hormones are associated with hair loss.

Good Sources: Oysters, nuts (walnuts, cashews, pecans, almonds), beans, beef, lamb.

Omega-3s
It is known that omega-3 fatty acids contribute to a healthy scalp. A deficiency can lead to a dry scalp and dull hair.

During a six-month pilot asked Taiwanese scientists found that lignans – disease-fighting compounds in flaxseed – likely to slow down hair loss. Nine out of ten men in the study experienced moderate to much reduction in daily hair loss.

Good Sources: Linseed. Lignans are naturally occurring in the outer skin, so buy ground whole of the seed in the healthy food department of your supermarket. The study participants were consuming 1 ½ teaspoon per day. For example, add flaxseed to cereal or smoothies.

Vitamin C helps your body to absorb iron, so a deficiency with it can make hair dry and limp. You probably get enough vitamin C, if you vary daily servings of fruits and vegetables.

Good Sources: broccoli, green leafy vegetables, green peppers, citrus fruits, strawberries.

Water
If you have dry hair and wants to avoid straw-like strands – water is crucial. Hair is made for a fourth part of water. It is recommended to drink eight glasses a day.
